Good point man. We all get into this when we're young and fancy free...then comes responsibility in the form of family etc. Part of lifes's natural flow I reckon. Probably why you 'lose the fire' when you get older...all natural.
In the rare moments of clarity between the hustle and bullshit we get the chance to see what is important...tough to get the balance though.

it's sad. i read this on the other agency blogs first. there's a lot of commotion and criticism over what had been said about Paul Tilley.
advertising is a high stress world, especially if you take it seriously and are on multi million dollars accounts, difficult clients who are constantly threatening to take the account to other agencies. i don't know how high i want to go up in this industry...

a bit off topic,
a few months earlier a guy (webdesigner) died of massice hearfailure, the dude was only 29, a year older than me..

been there. over it now. survived.
and you know what? i care less about anything, in a good way. i laugh about most situations, and let things just come my way.
(it also helps i have got to know rich and relatively young people who seemed -imho- suspiciously unsatisfied with life and themselves..)

so sad. all of this. we are all responsible. we create the need for people to buy crap. forcing everyone to look for comfort in objects instead of human relations. money is in high regard while people are treated like inanimate objects. stress, concepts, layoffs, awards, bigger house, bigger car, botox, bigger boobs, bigger egos until it all suffocates you.
my husband and i rebelled this year. we're both in advertising on the creative side. couldn't take the bs anymore. we moved into a smaller apt, it's in williamsburg, brooklyn - not brand new. we turned off our cable and signed up netflix. the dark circles under my eyes have disappeared. we now have quality time together and have stopped spending all together unless it comes to computer equipment. how many pairs of jeans does a person really need?we're more focused on our own creative projects, with freelancing we can do that. i recommend everyone takes a look at their life and figures out what really makes them happy before they jump out of a window... admit it we've all been here. looking out and down. i have to admit as a woman i am actually looking forward to having a family instead of having my ovaries dry up in the corner office. i hope i can attain both in my life...
- I think I have like 12 pairs of jeans and it's nowhere close to being enough.********
- I have 3 pair... and it's nowhere near enough.Point5
