Random aside wtf is a flac file? I first incountered this file type this morning when I was excited to add the stone temple pilots discography to my ipod. I was disappointed as itunes wouldn't recognize the files. Now I try to give this Iron&Wine a listen I am shocked to again see this mysterious flac file.
- You can convert it to m4a (aac) with toast. It’s a high quality codec.MrOneHundred

He has some good, mellow, feel good songs. But, its not for everyone. And yes it is very simple, so I can see how many would label it as 'boring'.

Handsome Boy Modelling School do a good cover of Breakdown

Never heard of this guy. I've never ever even heard any of his songs.

By the way, JKilla, I agree with you. It's kind of ridiculous to ask subjective questions and expect everyone to have the same answer (thereby making it easier to pool every opinion together and make everything less complicated).
That being said, Johnson makes me sleep.

I wouldnt buy Jack Johnsons music but it doesnt piss me off. Its better than chillout compilations that a lot of cafes run.

Johnson, Blunt and that guy from Keane can get fucked.

if you have been sitting on the north shore (not that one BC) or your favorite break's shore after an awesome day, surfing or not, and you just remember a melody, sound or lyric of his, you will have a diffrent take on his sound. Very experiential his music, for real.

i think jack johnson is a better song writer then a singer. i'd rather listen to g love play his stuff then him or anyone else who knows how to jam a good tune.

Jack Johnson the hockey player is still young but he's gonna be great.

I think molo has a point. He probably has okay lyrics, but he's the type of guy that isn't interesting enough to pull it off.

GLove&Special Sauce tho'... Ace.
"Go Girl Work the Cold One"Now you're talking.

I like his stuff, not as much as someone like G-Love but then they can't all be that good.

I liked the old albums, didn't bother downloading the new album.
G-Love is nice.. so is Xavier Rudd (also a surfer gone singer).. and if you like them, also check out Fink.

On the subject of great albums. I did some artwork for a guy a good number of years ago now, but he split from the label before it got released and he's been fighting to be able release it himself independently ever since. Finally, years later, he's self-financed a remastered limited release. So if anyone wants to buy a copy, check it out. Its pretty much amazing. Obviously that's a matter of opinion and taste but what I'm trying to say is it isn't just some bedroom 8track jockey with a Myspace dream - its a properly crafted piece of work that would have launched a career and sadly didn't on that occasion. Anyone who's ever done work for a major record label will know its like that sometimes. Anyway, as Gordon Brown once said on budget day... "Snoooorf, I commend this to the house, Snooorf"...

Its legit, despite the suspicious sounding name.
