I got one of these for about £30
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pinnacle…I wouldn't drop the money on anything else.
- is that just for music, or does it control your TV too?spendogg

it's pretty cool. I set one up at my house so my brother could watch Padres games from out of state. The quality of the picture varies with the available bandwidth, which is generally a good thing. I wouldn't really recommend it for a TV replacement, but it's perfect for using it to stay up to date with sporting events, news, etc..
Also, there's no subscription service which is nice. It's a minor bitch to set up though because you have to reconfigure your router, but it's totally doable. I think the main drawback is that you have to have the sling media player installed on your computer/phone/etc... to connect to it.

Nice, thank you. So do you think it would be good for someone at college?

yeah definitely. Let's them watch their home cable network from the dorm room, and college kids are used to watching youtube-esque quality anyway (though the picture quality is a lot better than that).
1 thing i forgot to mention is that only 1 person can be connected to the slingbox at a time....kind of a bummer but it's never been an issue for me.

I also have one hooked up. It's great on the road - getting to watch the football games that I'm missing while working the road. People backstage ask me 'how in the hell...?' Works great. Plus you can hook them up to a security camera to check on your property while your away, fairly easily.

I have one, it's great. I can watch tv in my office if someone is watching a movie, and I can watch it from work!
