Here's mine:
"It just kind of falls flat."
I think I've only had that once. And it was from a creative lead, not a client. Granted, the design wasn't working in my opinion as well, but ... more "targeted" feedback would have helped ...
:)
What's yours?

May favorite is "we wanted you to have creative freedom to do what you saw best but you didn't make it look the way we wanted".
I love clients... really.

- that sentence is devoid of any logic imho.vrmbr

In art, probably spending a lot of time on a painting and thinking it's great, showing up to the critique and having the teacher say 'thats cliche, let's move on'.

In design basically what scrap_paper said. Wanting you to be creative and picking at every peice until it is exactly as they want. Usually for the worse.
- I'd say with 90% of clients is for the worse. I often wonder why they don't just hire an inhouse "graphics guy" to be their eyes and fingersscrap_paper

Ummmmm, I dont know.
It's just not what I was thinking.

I like the color but I'd like to see it in another color.

"It's too nice."
Got that on a print ad for a second hand/crappy fitness equipment company. I overshot the "branding" level.
- Yes!! I love that one! "We want you to design badly please".scrap_paper
- I have gotton this many times.
Never ceases to confuse the piss outta memarychain - I've heard this one before...duckseason
- ...just got that last weekdirtydesign
- got that... and it's pretty much the worst one. where do you go from there? do i work less; or more on it now?therandomlines

best of all time:
"i'm not exactly sure, but i'll know it when i see it"
- scrap_paper0
or:
"I know what I like when I see it"
- adamm0
I want it to look like what we have, but make it a little different.
I still don't understand this one...
- It means put an oval around the logo ;-)scrap_paper
- That means they want you to expand the brand. Which can be thought of like a digressed conversation that still remains on topic._salisae_

I've had a few that have made me question the mental stability of the client:
"I just don't see that you're getting it or that I'm seeing it. Can we go a bit further".
WTF does it all mean?!
- I hate the whole "go a bit further" comment! I had a design teacher like thatpantone

"um...I don't feel it's there yet."
said by a very dumb CD who wrote in big bubbly cursive script.

I'm expecting a dinger today on a poster I submitted. They trashed the branding at the end of December, so it looks like nothing else they've ever done. What the hell.

"we want you to compress the Helvetica Extended"
- kona0
"well... i don't hate it"
"ok, so tell me what was on purpose and what was an accident before we begin"
*pointing* "did you mean to do this?"
"ew... that's embarassing"all of which have been thrown around here. we like to have fun during our critiques and will often times throw that stuff out for the hell of it to the jr designers.
- the worst one i ever got was "that is nothing like what we told you we wanted" even though it was exact.kona
- I would kill them if anyone ever said any of those to me in person.detritus
- I mean literally - I'd snap, and stab my 0.9 automatic pencil straight through their neck, then their eyes and chest.detritus
- "it doesn't pop"studderine
- when i took a typo. class the prof never used theory to evaluate our work. instead, he'd say,"do it over".studderine

I often wonder how it is that the majority of people/clients out there can be completley illogical about creative work and have the worst taste imaginably. I mean, are designers and other creatives that much in the minority? And if so is it possible that WE are the ones that are illogical and have bad taste? Hmmmmm... I need a beer.

The most interesting and intriguing critique I've ever had for a site (you know that thing that you can fool around with in a computer?):
"It's looks like too much informatics".
- PonyBoy0
I love when the client includes you in their comment to try and take the edge off of the fact they don't know what they want:
"I thought 'we' decided 'we' didn't like green."
