I wonder if ebay has polaroids wholesale?

after a while i would always end up feeling like i was paying to much attention to the craft and not enough to the idea/theory. manipulated polaroid has been an aesthetic that served me well but i think its time has passed.

it appears that urban outfitters is taking over the polaroid manufacturing, it looks like the market will survive after all

Of course - on the very day I actually buy an SX-70!!
Although actually, the SX-70 will be a gift. But I'm going to have to stock up on 600 film for my Polaroid AF 660. I love the camera, despite the high cost of film. There's something about watching a polaroid develop, and that instant when you can see that it's going to be a great shot.
I wonder what's going to happen to the legal use of Polaroid. I know that lots of cases when insurance or liability is involved that you need any photographic evidence to be on Polaroid, so there's a guarantee that the image hasn't been tampered with.
- sx-70 has been discontinued for a while now, but there is this:
http://www.sx70blend…bolus - Thanks for tip! I was planning on modding it to take 600 film, but this is even better!!Nathan_Adams

That legal issue could be dealt with by requiring lots of images from different angles, which would be hard work to fake (consistently) in all shots, and is of course cheap to do now with digital..

What's truly funny is eventually we're going to have a digital medium where alot of the terminology will be rooted in old school analog language.

I'm sure some people will attempt to make their own film....if it hasn't happened already.

Well, it's a shame but sooner or later this should have happened anyway.
So long and thanks for all the fish... after all they just marked an era.

For Dobs, I prefer BW film if your are printing yourself. The result is so random and suprising. The contrast and grain are very unique, you can print on different paper like fiber for another effect. Digital has it's purpose but can seem cheap and intangible to me comparitively.

this isn't the first time that polaroid has come back from disaster. in 2001 they had to file for bankruptcy protection. i remember the price of existing stocks shooting up and people filling freezers with film thinking thats was it.
same thing happened when kodak stopped making 35mm infra red. another company started producing it.
same thing happened when ilford went under. another company bought the pieces and started selling ilford products again.
the technology is dead but there is still a value in the name and mystique of the product

I love Ilford products... the packaging aint bad either. I can't imagine it will be too hard for other companies to adopt the technology, as long as the patent is run out or transferred. (They do have a aptent on it, right?)

it's funny how that whole "shaking" a polaroid to develop it came to be. if you read the packaging it clearly states that that's the WORST thing you can do to a developing polaroid. you are to put it in the darkness and heat of your pocket for best results

It's like when people pass their fingers back and forth under a stream of water at the faucet. They believe they're helping it get hot quicker. But they're not. They're actually breaking the water! Ugg.
- Um.. I think they're actually just testing how hot the water is.Nathan_Adams

the habit is so ingrained that I actually shake my digital camera, believing that it will write to flash memory faster
