Adding a vector into a font

I'm setting up templates for a magazine and they have a story ender stamp that I wanted to either add to a font or use like a font in indd CS3.
Is there a way to add it to the glyphs menu in indesign or do you have to add this through a font software like fontographer? if the latter, what's the current standard for font creation software?

If you're going to pay to do this, you don't need fontographer - you can just use TypeTool, from the same company. I think it's about $99.

is there something within indesign that i'm missing will let me input it like that?

- i mean you can't add it to the fontstupidresponse

isn't there a way to do that, like you can do to make custom bullets, maybe you can do a similar thing?

we might just talk to the guy who did our new fonts and have him embed it in one, but are looking for a local solution if there is one as it can be applied to various arrows and glyphs we use regularly.
this is more for the accessibility of the editors rather than the design side.

Add vector to a library.

i know you said you want to use it "like a font", but couldn't you just set an object into your type kinda like they do here?

thats what we're doing now, but most of the editors are just using incopy and can't input the characters themselves.

Is there no way to embed an item from your clipboard into the type path as per Quark? I used to have soemthing that made a key command auto-drop something onto a text path, not sure if it was typetool or not as it was a couple years back, but it was a horrible cronky experience and caused mayhem come time to get it output to film/plates.
- This is very easy to do in Indesign. Set cursor in text where you want the image and then place the image.duckofrubber
- is there an echo in here?barbtastic

... as in we have the vector in a library. its very simple, just text over a bullet, which we can also create by kerning the initials/giant bullet w/ baseline shift, but editors can't mess with that either.

that said, i'd stick to your original idea and just make a custom font

yeah... we are figuring out any other solution besides that has the same barriers and work involved.
