ok. lookin to do an iframe with my portfolio in it. However, i am unsure about the use of anchor tags from the say "work.html" page to the "iframe.html" page. Is this doable (I have been lookign around all morning and it seems to be doable, but I am having a creative mental explosion in my head, but i am at my boring job), and if so, does anyone have any good examples? Especially when you lose the scoll bar.
Thanks folks!!!!!, and yes, I am fairly new to the web.

So you want to have a link on your page, that targets an iframe on the same page?
- radar0
you could target the iframe by name, not sure if you could then specify things within that page.
- nocomply0
or you can just use some css and scrolling divs.

yeah i was wondering why yo uwanted an iframe too
- 7340
but yes an anchor tag in the uri should work just fine with an iframe as with any other html document
- TheBlueOne0
why the iframe?
- elPaulo0
nocomply, I suscribe to your thoughts. Please, tell me more.
But, what about iframe browser compatibility?
- elPaulo0
why not iframes (not being a smart ass, just kinda new to this)? I would really prefer to do what nocomply said, but, need a tutorial or somethin........ Thanks again everyone.

iframes a re a bad choice unless you have a real good reason to use them (and there are a few)..what's the thinking that's driving your desire to use an ifram? I mean, what are you trying to accomplish on the page that leads you to an iframe? I would tend to think that some css and some scrolling divs and/or some ajax might get the same effect in a more SEO type of page...

BlueOne, do you know of any good tutorials on the scrolling divs? I am an old designer that cant keep up with you all young designers. I would rather not go with an iframe. Compatibility issues and nightmares.
Thanks a bunch!
- help me oh BlueOne.. haha sorry it amused me written like that734

Doing it via Divs + Ajax can be better for your SEO on the first page loaded, where a spider wouldn't load the iframe content, but you'll still have issues with links loading via Ajax as the code and probably links will be JS based.
I have my current portfolio setup to use Divs + Ajax and it works quick nicely, however for search engines it blows because of all the JavaScript rendering going on.

Hey, just shy of 40 and someone is calling me young! Woo-Hoo!! elPaulo just use a div tag and set a width/height and overflow in the CSS.
You should be able to find some help here:

if others haven't already covered it, here is a quick basic example:

y'all rock! I'm just shy of 40 as well BlueOne. But, in this business, 40 is ancient. Basically, I want to build my portfolio into it. Is this doable with images? Have them scroll (via anchor tags which will be a lot more effective with this div treatment rather than iframes) via links. and or next btns. Get my drift?

Can I drop images into the scrolling div? Anyone?
Thanks.
