Hello every one just thought id let you know i have just finished redesigning my website
www.the-nice.com i would appreciate any feed back you guys have THANKS MATT

every single one of your web designs is a gigantic static image, text included, with some useless area shape maps.
even your own news section is just text flattened onto the jpg. lol.
- is that feedback?... you're just telling him what he has done :)********

Matt, I fear the worst for you at this point in the proceedings.
- +1 unfortunately .. this is only going to end in tears.jamble

As a design is really ok.
As a website.... well, look at it in this way, is a good chance to learn properly xhtml and css.

(I'll try and distract them Matt while you fix the site).

You have some pretty smooth work there dude, unfortunatly 99% of people on here are web designers so they will tear you apart for using less than perfect methods to create your webpages, just think to yourself they are web and it would appear that they only know web as your work is rather good (apart from the web obviously)

just ignore everyone here matt. keep at it. web is super.
- chossy0
Actually he did ask for feedback on his site.....
It's shite. Start again.

Thanks chossy 95% of my work is print based so thats why i did the the site in jpgs so you could see the quality of the the design and print and keep the site really simple to use. The spelling on the logo page is a mixture of my dyslexia and far to many late nights putting all together! Ill change the spelling on it tonight when i get home from work.

why resize my browser to full screen if there isnt any flash?
why all the pop ups? creating a new page is easy:
<a href="apage.html">linky</a>people in general really dont like pop ups and automatic re-sizing so scrap that.
like some of your work though :)

try making it simpler... if you're not good with code and just want to showcase yourself as a print designer, use what's available like Indexhibit...

I really don't have a problem with image maps... and can see why you've done it like that... a lot of people on here might decide to diss it, but at least you've got your work up... rather than a holding page...
...and the good thing about that is at least people are seing your work, and you can perhaps develop it from now on...
- Agreed, nice one for getting something up, now you can begin adding another string to your bow by learning how to build a site in the more traditional way.creative-
- build a site in the more traditional waycreative-
- Oh yeah, fix the typos asap though!creative-
- no having a go, but its just bad practise, if the same approach wa taken to print work on here the designer would be ripped to bitskelpie
- bits from the QBN print nazi's.kelpie

I don't agree, I mean the site isn't that bad, but you don't want spelling mistakes online [especially when it's the second word of your chosen profession] for all to see how careless you are... don't rush something up for the sake of getting your work online...

Like i said The spelling on that page is a mixture of my dyslexia and far to many late nights putting all together!
Ill change the spelling on it tonight when i get home from work.

Some nice work on there, but I really would down the 'standard' route on execution - ie html/css framework to house the images in.
You have web design as a service, so surely you would want to display this skill from the outset.
Nice bits on there though.
With regard the spelling - we've all done it! but not all of us have posted it on here!

Wow. Everyone in here is being so ..nice.. today. I'll not go off on one about the imagemaps, but I should (*wags finger sternly*).
Your work is interesting - you're obviously pretty capable, but you seem to not pay attention to details, which I thought was an inherent requirement of being into print. I don't mean the spelling so much (though if you're dyslexic, you should get someone who isn't to proof read your stuff!) - little things like the letter-spacing in the Mercury Movers strapline (was the text done in PS 6, by any chance? :), text centreing on the Octave 8 flyer, name tags on the Animal Bike Tour, etc.
As far as the site is concerned - at the very least, have each work open in the same window, and have an image map for 'Back'.
Otherwise, good luck!
ps. You have no testimonials?
- How the hell do we spell 'centering' in English?

Yup - wwfc makes a good point - the imagemap thing IS important of you're selling web design services.
Naughty.

nairn, why the fuck do you have a photo of me (looking very gay) saved on your server?
- Instabation purposes for long haul journeys.detritus
- I only uploaded it for that thread - I can't for the life of me remember where I found it...detritus
- ...I keep a fairly large NT file, filled with images that may or may not be useful for some future purpose.detritus

But, we've all got a photo of you looking very gay on our servers.
- you try too hard.********
