sweet lord its a minger. i tried to get away with making look nicer on a site design but whiting it out and extracting the text, but it got rejected. So I basically have a black and turd coloured lozenge at an angle with gill sans and a lens flare. how does everyone else get round this kinda thing?

make the logo really small and tell them it's cutting edge design to have the logo in the bottom right of the site footer.
- You got the idea, hahahroundabout
- no no no! Make the logo bigger!flashbender

Before they had a rebrand (The logo never changed though) I used to do some work for these guys,
http://www.colt.net/As part of the quidelines ALL images had to be in the triangular pennant – Absolute nightmare
- "Colt" - we're going down :)antistatic

let them know how crap their redesigned logo is then and ask if you could have a bash at coming up with something else. especially if they havent released stuff with this new logo they've had done.
emphasise that a logo or brand is an important thing especially for first impressions. tell them their existing one is laughable.
If they like your stuff then they might go with your idea and work with you in the future for other work and ditch their other designer.
failing that, just throw a strop and shout "i cant work with this sh*t!"
- No way will any company accept this. "Er, sorry the logo you just spent ££££ is shite I will design you a new one"Dancer

small and in the corner normally works, try large images?

deal with it or try another line of work?
- graham0
the people needing another line of work are the shisters who did this logo

don't put too much effort in the website as these people obviously lack taste anyway. get paid and move on with life.
- very true - i'll keep the version i did for my folio haha

yup, getting hung up on this is the equivalent of sprinting the whole way round a 1500m race, you need to stop caring about these ones and leave your energy for the clients who can be given good work and appreciate it. Life's too short and you'll burn out and hate the work after a while if you always feel this way.
- take it from mekelpie
- I'd take it from you any day...neue75_bold
- I've moved on, you should too. Walking backward through life will only make you bump into things and get hurtkelpie

Quick and dirty man. quick and dirty. It was probably done with loads of their input, at least you weren't the one who had to do it.

When I have to work on a site that has an absolute sh*t logo I usually don't put the logo into the comp until the very last moment. I plan for it and make a nice spot for it, but sometimes you just can't get past the logo and get stuck trying to design a page that works with it. I just had a client like this last week. We were all struggling with the logo... it's really bad.
