I am going, finally. A year in the making. I will be there for 2 months. I'm thinking about going To Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos, but I think the bulk of my time will spent in the country.
Any and all recommendations on awesome stuff to see and do are encouraged!
Thanks..!

Wow that is quite a long trip. Do you know someone there? How are you going to the country, it seems hard if you do not speak the language or anything.
- grafiske0
I do not know anyone. I am flying. I am a little nervous about mostly getting entirely lost, and visiting the smaller villages. I think the cities I should be fine, I've been in places where I don't speak the native tongue and I made it. Thanks to tourism.

Yea its a different thing for city vs country.
I am planning a trip to Japan, and would love to see the country but don't think i could make it without a guide.
- YOU CAN DO IT!!!

I've done the exact same thing about 2 years ago. Thailand for 5 weeks and Vietnam for 3. It's so easy and cheap to travel there you won't have any problems.
Some stuff too look for in these 2 countries:
Thailand:
-Bangkok :Wat Po, Royal Palace, I wouldn't spend too much time there though, kinda exhausting.
-Koh tao: diving, all around fun, I had the greatest time there
-Koh Pah Ngan : beach life, parties, etc
-Koh Phi Phi : just drop dead gorgeous just like in The Beach, although very touristy because of said movie.
-Railey: amazing cliffs for rock climbing that drop right into the sea.Vietnam:
-Ha-Long bay: mind blowing rock formations. My favortie place in Nam for sure.
-Hanoi: nice old city and french inspired architecture.
-Hanoi: cute city, good beaches, very laid back.
-Mui Na : cool sand dunes, best beach in Nam.anyway, I can garanty you will have a blast there. South East Asia as a whole is just fantastic.
- oops..for Vietnam, the second "Hanoi" should actually be Hoi An"Louis

You won't need to spend too long in Bangkok really. It's a bit much and there are more beautiful parts of the country. As beautiful as places like phi phi and samui are - I would recommend staying off the beaten track as much as possible and away from the annoying backpacker/tourist crowd.
Vietnam is...amazing. I would spend more time there than Thailand to be honest.
