Out of all of them, what made you recommend that?
Have you got one?

I'm having second thoughts on it needing to be a compact now... I've already got a Sony DSC-T1 so have a compact (this newer, better spec'd camera would replace it) but I wonder whether I should keep that as a pocket-point-and-shoot and get something that more resembles an SLR...
If I had a budget of say £200 - £250 what might you recommend then?

Yeah...go with the Panasonic. Picked up one of them in Japan last year for my wife..takes stellar pictures..

From my experience the sony cybershots kinda suck, day time shooting is ok, but are really bad in any kinda low light.
And it seems like low light shots is what im always shooting. bars, dinner parties, etc.
I like canon for my camera needs.
But I have not tried every camera out there sooooo..... yea

I have the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 and it rocks my world. The lens is amazing!

I have a SONY Cyber-shot DSC-W35, 7.2MP, Wouldn't recommend it, the zoom button is too fiddly and sometimes doesn't work. I had a Sony before that too and it died after 1year.

Ok... I'm going off the idea of another compact, thinking along the SLR lines now (I can keep my existing compact for a party point and shoot).
I'm now increasing the budget and looking at:
Canon EOS 350D
Canon EOS 400D
Nikon D40XThe latter two being around the £400 mark...
What are your thoughts, or should I be looking at something else entirely?!
- Been reading a few review, seems the way to go with these is get the body only and a better separate lense?Raniator
