    Ok... I'm going off the idea of another compact, thinking along the SLR lines now (I can keep my existing compact for a party point and shoot).

    I'm now increasing the budget and looking at:

    Canon EOS 350D
    Canon EOS 400D
    Nikon D40X

    The latter two being around the £400 mark...

    What are your thoughts, or should I be looking at something else entirely?!
