I am doing a new logo for a limited company.
Tradlite Stone Blocks Ireland Ltd.
Do you know if I have to put the Limited in on the logo or can I leave it so the logo just reads:
Tradlite Stone Blocks Ireland

In a word, no.
Some companies like to advertise that they're ltd for different reasons, most don't.

i think it's more of a legal issue and not so much an 'advert'. some types of businesses are required by law to display the ltd others not. why don't you talk to someone in the company itself?

not the best logos, but yeah if they gave it to you they'll want it in the logo.

It's a legal issue. I believe you have to display your name as registered unless you submit a DBA (doing business as). For instance Nike Incorporated does business as Nike

A company logo doesn't need to include the 'Ltd'
There are places where the official company name (with 'Ltd') has to be displayed (letterheads, email footers if the mail is considered an official document such as an invoice, etc), but the logo has nothing to do with the name of the company in a legal sense.
And then there's trademarks.. but that's another story...

and the logo doesn't neccessarily have to include the text: 'Tradlite Stone Blocks Ireland'... it could be just 'Tradlite Stone Blocks' or 'Tradlite', or a picture of a stone block...
