i recently bought an expensive camera on ebay (from the uk, i'm on the continent) no horror stories here, except that a day after the posting, north england flooded (incl. the postal center were my camera was supposed to be) It took a few weeks, but i got it....
by from someone with good feedback, integrity is not that hard to spot on ebay (most of the times that is)
pay with paypal, get insured shipping.....what kind of camera are you buying, if i might ask?
good luck

I think if you go by good feedback ratings you'll probably be fine. I've bought other expensive stuff off ebay but only really from sellers with a lot of positive feedback and had no issues.
I think if you look around enough, you'll find horror stories for pretty much everything on the net.

I bought an expensive used lens once... it didn't seat properly, so the AF didn't always work. I returned it, but it was a bit of a hassle.

i would recommend www.bhphotovideo.com over ebay. you can get used and refurbished cameras there too, but without the worry or hassle. good place. i got my 30d there for $900 last year.

do you get slugged with tax when it comes into the country?

be careful of the bait and switch...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baiā¦Sometimes they will make you pay extra for the battery and charger etc or just say they are out of stock and try and sell you something else. Should be ok with a seller with plenty of feedback I would imagine. Check for international warranty?
Have you compared to someone like bhphotovideo.com?
By the way, hows it going, long time to see.
