antistatic: not sure what the f*** you're talkng about with regard to Beckham. He got subbed in and he set up Crouch for the second goal. He's a game changer more often than he's not, so he deserves the applause no matter where it comes from. People need to let go of this retarded popular notion that he's past it.
- hahah I knew someone would come in and defend beckham lol
just messing fitsumantistatic - If you see that pass from a certain camera angle it is amazing... but then it should be anyway!********
- It was a great pass, he wasn't applauding himself anyway he was applauding the effort and the fans.chossy
- well then thanks f***er ;)fitsum
- you're more than welcome f***sum ;)

This must feel like shit for you england fans.
If england was my team I would be soooo pissed that McShithead was still coach, how the hell can this man still hold that job?!?!
who is he blowing over there? That guy has not done one good thing for that team.fucking shame. pwned.

Quite the contrary, I think a lot of rational England fans will wake up today and think that perhaps it's good we got beaten and didn't qualify.
Steve McClaren doesn't have the balls to resign but it's looking like finally the FA will realise their mistake in hiring him in the first place and fire him this morning at which point we really need to get in a top international manager next - none of this "we must have an English manager managing England" bullshit.
Jose Morinho and Marcello Lippi are currently both available for example.
As for the players, they showed last night that even if we qualified, they're so technically inferior to so many other nations now that we'd have stood no chance in the tournament anyway so they also need to take a long hard look at themselves.
England haven't been a top international side for years and now we've slipped further behind nations like Croatia who fully deserved their win (and to win the group) with their well practiced technical passing game.
I'm actually pleased we haven't qualified to be honest. Perhaps finally the English game will get the massive kick in the arse it desperately needs.
- i totally with you...
and Fabio Capello is available too...67nj

Here, here jamble... the FA and the players needed a kick up the arse. 100k plus a week and most of them aren't worthy of wearing the 3 lions. Beckham yet again showed more passion than the rest of them put together when he came on.

jamble has it bang on. Were I an england fan I would have to look at the Sky TV hype around my league and my players and finally wake up to the fact that I have been hoodwinked as to the quality at England's disposal.
And you shouldn't have hired big sam, you should have hired O'Neill.
I should know; I'm a rangers fan, he's like kryptonite tae me, eh Josimar? ;)

I think it is a shame that England didn't get through, I'd have loved to have seen the louts and hooligans getting it off of the Swiss police with rubber bullets and tear gas.
- and of course Scotland's results were so much more impressive than England's.emecks
- England's hooligan problem is vastly overrated. At least you'll have the Germans, Italians and Russians in Switzerland. They're world class hooligans.jamble
- are Poland there? they're mentalkelpie
- I think they are .. those Eastern Europeans are mentalistsjamble
- I read yesterday Poland was the only team from these islands to qualify. How's that for mental? :)rafalski
- hahahahakelpie
- pffft, Poland is an Edinburgh team.emecks
- holy. i don't know if the swiss police will get this...pascii

I'll be supporting Germany during this competition anyway :D christ knows why but I love em if Scotland get knocked out of a tournament I support Germany if they are still in it and if they get put out then I support Russia.

maybe svennis wasn't that bad to have after all?
- he did a pretty good job with a bunch of players who weren't that good. Of course, you hated him cos u weren't brazilkelpie
- The worst thing about Mclaren is that he's made Sven look alright. Sen was shite who lacked a tactical when it came to the crunch situations. Yes we got to 1/4 finals but we folded like a wet house of cards each time because e didn't try to change things on the pitch. Sven = Fail. Steve = bigger fail.Wolfboy

I agree with Jamble, it was only after crouch took that supurb goal that I thought "maybe we do deserve to go through". But when they scored the 3rd I changed my mind... The english game needs a kick up the arse, I think their are to many foreign players in the prem and although it has made it the best league in the world, it has hindered the development of the english player.
Put a team of players from the championship in an england shirt and watch the passion and energy!!!
- kelpie0
I don't think the premiership is any better than italy or spain, it has a massive amount more hype telling you it is and more money too.
How many of the england squad play regular champions league football, that's every game from the start?
this is your problem, the EPL is meant to be of a high enough standard in itself to produce great players but the only ones who really r that good are the ones who are playing at a higher level in europe, learning different styles of football. Sky will tell you the rest are just as good though of course, and you will believe them as always.

What do you expect from a team of overpaid celebrity thugs? They don't give a shit they didn't win. They'll get some time of enjoy the mansion and the celebrity wife.
- fitsum0
moth sounds like a take-the-piss bot.
as for the EPL someone tell me one league outside of england where gerrard, lampy et al would stand a chance. becks made it happen for my beloved real in my equally beloved la liga - the banginest league in europe. very VERY few englishmen can measure up. if yall had a sliver of a slice of a clue how he represented in Spain last year, you'd have an idea of passion and hard work and sheer manhood.
Becks get on the ball and light a fire neath these little boys' genteel nuts. jesus.

I'm not taking the piss.
Footballers aren't in the game for glory or trophies. They're in it for the money.

One of the things I find infuriating it that the FA seem to have the same problem in their set up that they did 30 odd years ago, nothing has changed. It's still and old boys network of suits that refuse to appoint any man that will rock the boat and call a spade a spade when they are in the job.
England missed out on one of the all time greats in Clough because of that and supposedly his brusk forthright attitude was the major tick in the negative column for O'Neil last year.
This is plainly a fucked up situation. With the pressure from the press and the terraces this job clearly needs the strongest of characters to be a success. The FA have got to take a look at themselves and realise that they have to think about the fact that the England manager should not be a man who is just their subordinate.
I don't mind saying that I was not cheering when England equalised last night as I think we needed to fail to have the opportunity to move forward.
