Who else is a lover of this fine distilled family of liquids.
My favorites are usually Dahlwhinie and Lagavullin. But I just discovered:

I love scotch and bourbon. How much do you normally spend on a bottle? I think my scotch averages from $30-35. Usually Glen Livet. Any other recommendations? I think I'll start a whiskey thread.

Yeah Oban is really nice.
I'll spend anywhere from 35-65 on a bottle. Ususally try to keep it around the 40 mark or so. But my favorite is Lagavullin and that usually runs closer to 65.

Aberlour a'bunadh is truly the nectar of God. Every other Scotch I've ever had sucks in comparison. My wife bought me a bottle for my last birthday, I am slowly nursing it into oblivion. I could honestly drink no other single malt til I die, and be a contented man.
Laphroaig is very good if you like to drink a bucket of smoked honey (which sounds pretty good to me).
Oban 15 is also very good and quite smooth.
My favorite Glenfiddich is the 15 yr. Solera, it's a smooth one. The 18 yr. is nice & complex, if a bit on the nettly side.
The worst Scotch I ever had was something from the lowlands, it tasted like fresh-cut grass. Echk.
I'll have to try out some of you guys' recommendations.
