Just wondering if any one has any recommendations on digital cameras. I am looking at a Leica D Lux 3. It's a bit expensive so wasnt sure if I wanted to put up that much for a camera. I want something smaller but a camera with a lot of diversity. any ideas?

canon G9.. shoots RAW.. about 400 bucks.. 12 megpxl. it seems to be a cool camera.. I am hoping Santa brings me one.. The sigma Dp1 seems really cool.. so far just vaporware though..

What do you want from it? Portability? Speed? Quality? Night shot capability? Sport/action pics? Street photo? What's your photo background?

I guess I am looking for something that is portable but want something that has a lot of diversity. If that helps. I know i wont be buying a Digital SLR, cause its too big. But I am willing to pay for a good point and shoot that offers a lot of options, bc I would take advantage of them. I have some photo class background from when I was at risd. Mostly will be street photo, night shots would be good. Hope this isnt too vague.

I got my wife a Canon TX1 Powershot Camera / HD video hybrid. It's super nice - small and takes good photos and video.

If you're sure you don't want a dslr, there's not much I can advise as I'm out of this segment for some time. I guess I'd go for a used 4mp IXUS if I were looking for something portable, that's not too much help is it ;)
