reading the pdf booklet i just discovered that BONO's real name is Paul Hewson...no wonder he changed his name.

I paid a few bucks for it the other night, not my cup of tea. sounds like lenny kravitz with a foul mouth and trent reznor beats behind it.
no offense if you dig it, but I am kind of a prick when it comes to music.

thx for the info emo

'black history month' seems to be the only title that is also a song by DFA but it's an entirely different song. are there more songs with titles similar to DFA?
'sunday bloody sunday' is a cover of U2's song.

what's with the death from above titles?
is this saul "speaking"others songs with backing noise by trent?

absolutely no offense was taken jaylarson... I was just caught off guard. I just now fired this album up, hope it lives up to all the NT hype!

i've heard the album a couple of times now and i think it is fantastic. sunday bloody sunday seems kind of out of place but interesting take on it nonetheless.
raised to be lowered, skin of the drum, no one ever does and break are my favorites at the moment. that'll probably change in a few more listens.

Yeah, i was unsure how to title the thread, but i thought i should take a risk. Saul Williams is one of the greatest performance artists i shall probably ever experience. Like many threads on NT, the more alluring, controversial, or interesting the title the more people will see/respond to it.
i think Saul's work should be heard by as many people as possible, especially since he has teamed up with trent.
i thought the title was an interesting play on Bowie, but i am just realizing the depth of what Saul is trying to say.
The track "The Ritual" is quite a charged track that seems to be quite satirical, no, more sarcastic, but it could easily be seen as/heard as a weak copy of Hostyle, or something.
For what it's worth, sorry about the title, it wasn't intended to offend.

looks like i still have quite a ways to cough up my institutional racism.

you know jay, I wouldn't necessarily think that because you didn't notice "tar" you're buried under institutionalized racism. A lot of people wouldn't even know wtf the term "tarbaby" alludes to anyway. But yes, Niggy Tardust definitely got my mind going with it. When I say this thread in the PVN this morning I though "Oh hell no... "

//love the terms "niggy" and "tar" together
I downloaded this early this morning. Hopefully the music will make me forget about the name.

(Nov 1 07, 15:21)i didn't notice the "tar" as much as "niggy". thanks for saying something. looks like i still have quite a ways to cough up my institutional racism. saul always seems to be pushing the "right" buttons to get people thinking. hopefully.

Laid down the c-note. Commences listening.

Is that Dog the Bounty Hunter on backing vocals?
- jaylarson0
I think the track listing is outta wack though. Tr(n)igger seems to be Track 4 and Sunday Bloody Sunday is Track 5.
I'm hopeless.

Holy shit is the music great. Sounds like an experimental NIN album.
I grabbed the free version, but will have to go back and pay the $5, just because it's a solid release.
For the record, I dig having the option to check it out and make sure it's a good album before buying. Nice!
- jaylarson0
nice. thanks.

i really like the artwork in the PDF that comes with the album. it also lists who did what on the album. seems like the music on almost all tracks was mostly done by trent reznor.
- jaylarson0
i'd be curious to know who did what on which track. i will hafta check my folder when I get home. $5 for flac files. pretty decent. it isn't the greatest album i've ever heard, but it is worth more than $5 to me.
