thanks edd-e, we're planning to do photo book and we've got these expensive quotes from our local printers so I'm looking for alternatives.
- edd-e0
i know printers quotes are ridiculous in comparison.
both sites are very easy to publish work from.

Yup, I ordered a hardcover, 400+ page book from them not too long ago. Everything came as expected, except I think I forgot to specify the design of the back. Anyway, it was fairly easy to order. Just turned all my journal entries into a PDF and then got them published. Now I don't have to worry about losing my thoughts.

the quality is good for each, but i dont have a comparison for you. or maybe you have one... so not sure what your standards are, but from what i have seen its great!
and its easy!!!

I have no idea about colour stuff. I got mine in black and white, and the quality was fine. As best as you can get with b&w photos and images.
It was really cheap (in terms of price).

ive been to the site a few times but never made anything, so it's good to hear that people (read designers) are happy with the quality, cuz i know how i can be sometimes....
*now, if only i hadn't ran out of ideas...

I had my first book made at lulu. I'm not big on printing so I don't know th eterms etc but the BW images I had done were made of loads of dots. Now I know most[?] printers work like that but these dots were just about visible. That was a few years ago. I'd be interested in hearing what it's like now and what their colour image printing is like. Things I dont like about lulu are 1. You have to have glossy cover, 2, there's no chice on the paper you use.

lots of choices for bindery, including different linen colours.
quality supposed to be a bit better than blurb.I haven't used either, but worth a look.

No question about binding, but is there a paper difference if I select the say "Landscape Perfect Bound" from paperback v. portfolio? I am just trying to figure this one out cause I have two books that need to be printed this weekend and I figure this is a good way to proof things.
- I think I answered this myself. I just couldn't find anything stating it one way or another, but prices match up.jasontroj

a few friends have used in while I was in college two years ago, quality is actually pretty good, especially for production costs/assembly etc.
