BonSeff - quick question.
When doing multi-color images, I know you have to have a screen for each color, but how long does it take between one color pass drying fully before you can do the next color?
- BonSeff0
lets say im doing a print run of 50.
i will print one color on 50 sheets.
when im done with that screen, i will take it off the table and hose it off.
by the time i put the next screen on the table and register it. the ink is dry on the paper.with the water soluble ink i use, the ink drys in about a minute, depending on coverage..
so, short answer- ink dries super fast

Why do some people put the whole huge tower right on the desk and right next to the monitor?

Cool. I can't wait to learn this stuff, both for artwork of my own and band posters. I'm fortunate to have access to a great color laser printer right now to do 11x17 posters and all my handbills in color.
To get your screens made, do you do the artwork in Illy or PS, seperate the colors and send those files out for screens?

bonseff omg i can't believe you print in that room! waterbase i'm assuming but wow that still must stink!?
i'm planning to knock out some walls and expand my basement studio for some print space next year.. but still a little concerned about the fumes.

doesnt stink at all. i open windows and i like the smell of the ink anyhoo.
mg,
i do my layouts in photoshop, each color in its own layer. then i print out each layer in black on vellum.
the light table you will use to burn the screens will be ok with vellum.
plus its cheap and you can run it off your laser printer

Thanks man.
Surprisingly, for screen printing being a pretty cool form of art and rather hip and all, there is very little relavent info on the web about it.
I figured I'd easily be able to find a blog or community or something about poster making, shirt making, etc. for bands, artists, etc.
There's really nothing out there that I've found other than a simply step by step example of making a t-shirt.

ximeraLabs,
If you worked at Vir2L in 2000 I should credit you for my getting into Flash almost entirely because of that first vir2l site.

mg33: I started at Vir2L in London after that site was done - so no credit for me.

Since it's ask MG day...
What ink do you use?
Once I finish off the 2nd floor of my house, I was going to set my screenprinting stuff back up, but I"ve only done textile stuff, not paper.
