so i been thinking about buying art
not sure what to buy actually
i never felt so comfortable buying photography / print editions
thoughts?

yes.

i have no problem purchasing print editions as long as they're of archival quality and come with an official certificate from the artist. as for photography - i love the medium but i'm not a fan of displaying framed photographs on my walls, but that is purely personal preference.

in all honesty, after all my expenses are accounted for, i spend all i can on food, drink and art.
life is too short and people are too good.

thats the thing
i been looking more in to two artists in particular
Opie and Banksy
You can get a Banksy print for about 3000-10000 but thats a one of 750 prints
where as Opie, you can get a print for about 5000 - 9000 on the lower end. On higher end it would be more 50k +
Opie's work is usually 20-25 prints per edition but has a lot of editions / variations

maybe im too out of it but who's opie?
and isn't the whole idea of purchasing a bansky print a bit redundant?
the whole anti-commercialism nature of his 'art/graff/stencil'...
go to his site and download a few free 'prints', use the office printer and be done with it!

Julian Opie
indeed menos but when i buy art i hope achieve two things
appreciation and investment

Serious, his stuff is going up every day.

Where did you see these prices for a banksy print? I've got one from years ago for only £50, definately be interested in seeing if that one is swapping hands for that much.
White cube always have nice editions -

never heard of alex grey, so I just looked him up. I can't tell if you're joking or not. He sucks in my opinion.
Look at these self portraits. They actually get worse with age. He looked like a pretty good artist age 16:

I've got this one as a print -

No earlier, 2001 - 2002 maybe? I can't remember the edition now i'll check at home tonight think it could be of 250.
I quite like Julien Opie's website -

heyheyhey
good news is that your print is now worth £3000-5000
- MrD0
banksy's earlier editions had 100 or 250
now its more like 700-1000
- heyheyhey0
Thats mint.
I wonder how long banksy will keep its value for though, is it just a flash in the pan? Investment wise.
So maybe i should sell it...... and then put it all on red or black.........
I'd buy some by this guy if i had more money -

(Oct 5 07, 08:34)you really think banksy will become a justifiable investment? Could it be just a temporay fad (not yours personally)? I like his stuff as a social comentary especially but i wouldn't consider it so much as an investment...
by the way have you guys heard of those kids as young as 7 investing in 'proper' (= $$$$$$$) artworks?? it's insane...there's quite a few of them already...
