On a 1.6 crop camera like a 30D/40D you only lose the very corners like this.
On a FF cam you get a perfect circle pretty much. If you put on a 1.4x tele converter on a 8mm you dont see the black coners at all and your fish eye becomes a 11mm. Still much wider than a 15mm fisheye.
15mm fisheye is just a general wide angle with bad barrel distortion :)

but it's a sigma. :| i dunno.
though the prospect of the full frame circle would be nice when i step up to a new body. i'd like to fire a shot through it first before shelling out the $700 with the 30d's sensor.
sometimes i just like the bubble, i have a .42x adapter on an olympus point and shoot that has an ISO of 50 which i love it's b&w for the achingly slow POS that it is as long as i mount it to something
i guess that's why it's still over there on the wish list :(

Nice wish list v6,
I dont like that camera armour, I had a play around with it on a friends camera and it was a pain in the ass. Doesnt weather seal the camera either.
I also recon the 15mm fisheye isnt wide enough, I would get a 8mm - 10mm fisheye and then chuck a 1.4x tele converter on it when you want less fish.
I'm aiming for the following lineup.
Peleng 8mm fisheye (have)
Canon 10-22mm (want)
17-40mm L (have)
60mm 1:1 Macro (have)
70-200 L f2.8 (want)
100-400L (want)
30D (have)

the tilt shifts started at $100 and ended at $275 at lensbaby another link had 2 options at $400 & $600, i guess i'm a canon snob though, i keep looking back at that 45mm for $1100

haha, sorry. i just meant for the lens.
are you going to even bother with the makeshift tilt/shift lens? the biggest concern is the dust...but damn, i really want to give that a go just to see what kind of results i get....especially considering that canon lens is over a grand!

(Sep 18 07, 17:07)on paper it sounds like the better body, but i'm not sold on nikon's glass.
i've decided on an xti and the 35mm f/1.4L. with the crop factor it comes to about 50mm, so it should be a nice all around lens. plus, on the xti it'll still be somewhat small and easy to carry around.
on the wishlist is the 70-200mm f/2.8L IS. my brother just got one and it's super amazing, but he's go the 5d. i'm thinking it'll be a little long on anything not full frame.

that price includes the 30d as well, as it was somehow left out of the list. ;)
hopefully, i'll be able to buy this next month in all honesty *crosses fingers

over 3 and a half for bag, battery grip, 2 hand straps, propylene strap 75mm-100mm f/4, 10mm-22mm f/3.5, 50mm f/1.4 w/ hoods, extra battery, extra charger, 77mm, 58mm, and 55mm density, polarizer, and uv filters, c angle eyepiece, i still have the rebel with the 50mm f/1.8 and the 18mm-55mm f/3.5 as well.

how much was that v6? i think i remember you asking about it here, msybe?
pricey i would think.
*too lazy to search :D

slappy, i bought the 10-22 with my 30d and the f/1.4 50mm my next will likely be the 100mm macro or the 85mm f/1.2. it's been a blast

IQ has not improved since the 20D, which isn't a bad thing, but for me, it gives me little room to upgrade so I'm waiting for the next FF (5D replacement?).
The 40D should be the last ASP-C sized sensor from Canon. With Nikon launching a Full Frame (with their own sensor, finally - can we say CMOS?) Canon should move all their DSLR's to FF.

I have a 30D and it does a pretty decent job. I was tempted by the 40D but think the cash is better spent on a new lens and flash (10-22mm + 580 ex II).
They are good cameras though, nice and sturdy.

D300 does have really hi-res display approx 640x480 on a 3" screen.... but I think I still prefer 40D...

A friend of mine went from 20D to Powershot Pro 1 and is raving about it... I just wish Canon wold hang a swivelling screen off the side, now they have finally gone Live View... The new Lumix L12 has Live View plus swivelling screen (just what I was waiting for for 4 years!), but seems a bit quirky overall , so I'd rather go 40D (and maybe carry 2 cameras for a while).

I've got the 5D but I miss my Powershot Pro and it's swivel screen. It took great pictures.
