thought?

well, both are really fun to say, but i think tungsten edges out flourescent just a bit as toungsten is a bit funner.
so, tungsten.

i'm tempted to make a tungsten simpsons reference here, but i will refrain

i am looking for a flat color...
people say different things
- acescence0
i think it comes down to the color temp, no? 5000k is the daylight ideal.
- MrD0
yes very true.....
doh i need to learn more about this..
- version30
i've heard 5500K was daylight, but i've also heard/read that to be as high as 6400K

well no matter what, if you are using a nuetral background such as white or black with singled out options you will need to do a custom white balance.
the AWB on digi cams only works well with a wide spectrum of color and light range to work properly
my 30d does great when setting up tungston, i just set the cam to match and boom, white
now on the other side of the camera...
tungsten is fucking hot as hell, so take that into consideration based on what you will be shooting and the amount of space provided to perform such photography

I like the pale blues of tungsten. Flourescent makes me look fat.

if your plants are in their flowering stage, definitely go with high pressure sodium

i was thinking of cheaping out and doing this set up
since i am only doing close up of a product
than again, i would feel like i am wasting money

last time i did any research tungsten was def the pro choice, but that was back in the day, shooting to 35mm slides, so kinda irrelevant now.
but as v6 warned, i can testify to the heat those thing kick-off.. can get pretty uncomfortable if you're doing photos all day.

i am looking more toward cool light
looking in to strobe but too expansive..
mono strobe is cheaper
i am leaning toward fluorescent light
and i have shot with tungsten and i actually dont like it. but i wanted to see what others thought, maybe i am doing soemthing wrong.
