Itunes is telling me that my ipod appears to be corrupted!
If i restore my ipod like itunes is telling me to, do I lose everything that is on it?
I mostly use the ipod as a temp hard drive and I need to get artwork off it but it wont show up in the finder untill itunes recognises it again.
What can I do?

Yes, you'll lose everything on it if you restore it.
I don't know what you can do... maybe try some disaster recovery software on it? Update iTunes?
Strangely, if I take mine to work to copy files on it sometimes it works fine logged in as a regular user, but sometimes I get the "you need to restore" message and I can't see it anywhere. But if I log in as an administrator, then it is fine. Very odd.
So, yeah, not much help, but a couple things to try.
Good luck.

DO NOT RESTORE IT YET
google for YAMIPOD, it will most likely be able to rebuild your shitthen pull all your music off immediately to be safe

plug it in to a pc,
show hidden files, explore at will. set folder options to display id3 tags and voila, the music and files you want, ready to be copied from your ipod. i luvs my pc.

are you on a mac or pc?
because I've had it happen on a pc and if plug your ipod in then go to the my computer folder and see if the ipod drive mounts inside of that folder
this was my path
J:\iPod_Control\Music
inside here there are 49 folders each containing your individual mp3'sits a pain in the ass to do it this way ... but it worked for me

1) reset it, google for directions for the model you have
2) rebuild directory with yamipod
3) any luck with disk utility?
