make sure the two colors to be included in the gradient are of the same type. ie: pantone process to pantone process, not spot to process. also double check your color mode and make sure you are in rgb not cmyk.

now that you mention it

"the last grey before white"
excellent movie title

yes

there a good chance of it looking crappy on other monitors if it looks bad on yours anyway.
so changing the color may be best.

if it's not a print job why not just do it in photoshop?

is it the last grey before white?

thanks, eb6
but it still gives the same result as gradient, doesnt matter how many steps.
- eb60
you could also try using the blend tool.
you can create two rectangles (or whatever shape) and use the blend on them and then set the steps to as many as you'd like.
I'll explain more if you want to try it.

anything from 1 to 4 weeks
sucks when it's your daily workhorse

have to do it anyway, the screens right edge is darker. you know how long it will take replacing the screen?
- designerror0
take it to the store and demand a new screen or MBP. They can't say no
- elms0
really?
i have 15" macbook pro...

I had a 23" Cinema display with the same problem. Just got myself a brand new one because you can't calibrate your way out of it. It's a factory fault
- elms0
it's not a print job. doing a website design over a very long time...

make a pdf and open it in acrobat or preview... this will also give you a more precise view..
but with gradients...always make a colorproof...especially with those subtle ones...it easily looks like dirt or paper fade away by the light...

thanks
have to recalibrate my monitor
