I just discovered a bug in the authoring environment of Flash CS3, publishing for Flash 8/AS2.
Variables have to be declared by type in for loops.
This is a correct usage of the variable i in the first line.
for (var i:Number = 0; i < toysTotal; i++) {
toys_array[i] = "t"+(i+4);
}This is not.
for (i = 0; i < toysTotal; i++) {
toys_array[i] = "t"+(i+4);
}The strange thing is that I didn't get this error on my computer at
work. I only got errors at home and two coworkers got the same errors when they tried pubishing. People viewing it on web pages got different results.
This was not an issue in Flash 8's authoring environment, publishing for Flash 8/AS2.Fortunately, this didn't make me come into the office just to hit shift - F12.
Happy Friday.

That's not a bug mayne, it's a feature. Strict data typing is a requirement (and a really good one) for AS 3.0

I know it's a good feature and good practice, but I never had this problem before CS3, Just wanted to warn people about bad habits (like mine).
I was publishing FL8/AS2 by the way.

you sure you didn't pick new document and choose as3 ?

I'm sure. I even had two other people ask me how to publish it when I had them try.
I think there would have been a lot more problems than what I saw if I published it as AS3. That seems like a whole new programming language.
