Point well taken fusionpixel. My wife is in a great situation though being able to take the kids to work for 4 hours (daycare provided by work), then her moms for the rest of the day. I couldn't agree more with where you're coming from though. You'll make a fine daddy.
Concrete, you may have a winner. :)
Thanks again for all the great advice.

skt. Because I value your opinions and respect you all as fellow designers. I asked to try and get you to put yourself in my shoes and offer some advice, chances are there is another designer out ther ewho had to make the same decision and I wanted to hear what they did and why.
My whole life I was raised "Money isn't everything" but when I start crunching the numbers of 130k holy balls... that opens new doors I only dreamed of before.

(Sep 4 07, 08:40)Yea man, ditch your wife and kids now so they only get half of what you are making now going forward.
Then live it up!
// Sarcasm, haha.

When I started reading, I expected you to say something like a 3 hour train ride, layover in Pittsburgh and a Greyhound through the state. I've had longer commutes most of my adult life for half of what #2 pays.
The job aside, looking at this from a commute point of view it, would be insane to turn it down.
Money is not everything, but as long as the job is challenging, that kind of money sure makes life easier.

the money is a huge boost but you havn't really listed any down sides to either ...got to balance it out with some negatives if you ask me.

Whatever you decide if you take the higher paying job try not to increase your lifestyle costs or take on more debt at the same time. If you could continue to live as you do now you could work there for a few years and really help to secure your future.

Money isn't everything but sure makes putting your kids through college a lot easier.
