Hi There,
Will be going to Bangkok next week. Anyone been there? What to do and see? Artspaces, designrelated stuff? Anything. Thanks!

Here is a great place to stay, though a little outside of the tourist areas. Each room is done by a different local artist: http://www.reflections-thai.com/…
Also, pick up the latest issue of Giant Robot magazine. It has a great spread titled Big Bangkok with some great suggestions.

Kao san is good but very touristy. Hit there and explore the side streets for interesting bars and eats.
This place is really good for grub. Its expensive (for bangkok) but well worth it, was over there a few years ago and went here twice with my gf. Highly recommend it!
http://www.coca.com/mangotree/Avoid pat pong area, we stayed near there and its very seedy (unless you like that kind of thing!)
Shopping is good at the MBK, its a giant shopping centre spread over 7 or 8 floors with cinemas and bars and restaurants and arcade, worth a visit just to see it, the outsiide is really cool.
Do toursty things, go see the reclining buddha and the temples and the floating flower market earlly on saturday mornings.
And drink Mekhong Whisky and sprite, its delicious, although don't drink too much. Drank waay to much of it on a beach, got up to go to the loo and fell face first onto our table and tried to go asleep. Don't remember too much about how I got home that night...

The Boat tour through the canals was surprisingly cool. A little touristy but you get on the water and get to see parts amazing stuff.
Also, the MBK shopping mall is insane. Lots of authentic and bootlaeg wares..

The Wat Po impressed me the most, more than the Royal Palace.
Design/Architecture wise, Jim Thompson's house (important silk trader who lived in Thailand) was really beautiful. The tour is totally worth it for the price (like 2 dollars for an hour !!)
The outdoor weekend market (can't remember its exact name) is fucking insane but it has to be seen.
All in all, Bangkok is fun but for a short while. Hope you actually get to visit some other parts of Thailand because THAT is awesome.

Don't bother with Koh San road. If you want to stay somewhere with style, check out the Metropolitan on Sathorn road. Definitely have to check out the weekend markets if you are there during the weekend.
Don't bother with Pattaya and Phuket unless you really want to see Koh Phi Phi and Krabi.
And yes, get to Chiang Mai and Koh Chang.
If you really want some adventure (and good waves), go to the Andamans...

Spend a few days in Koh Samet or Koh Chang if you get bored of Bangkok. Its only 6 hrs away. This place in Ko Chang is awesome - Treehouse

The place is flooded with diseased trannys. Watch what you get into over there.
