So, no belief in a spiritual reality of any sort?
planet01
(Aug 29 07, 09:01)For me the spiritual reality emerges and is embodied in the physical universe itself. no need to put it "somewhere else"...the spiritual is the same as the physical as is the mental..like prisms looking at the same light, depends how you turn it.

cute quotes from insignificant Darwnists, won't do, blueOne. You actually have to furnish evidence for one's position. But I do love unilateral declarations of victory - happens every day in the Darwinist camp. :)
mimio: I am not prejudiced against things outside of matter as we understand it. Clearly, something beyond ourselves and all created matter, was responsible for our universe.

Thank you for that excellent example of circular reasoning, blueOne.

Our beliefs should be based in evidence, not what sets well with us emotionally.
I believe in the spiritual "realm" because the Bible says it exists and there excellent reasons for accepting the Bible as the inspired word of God. I've detailed these reasons at great length here.

Care to offer any evidence of the spiritual realm?

(Aug 29 07, 09:09)I asked first.
Faith is sort of like that, everything can't be defined in concrete terms.
Just pointing out that you make Christianity out to be illogical and then say something like that.

well played, planet.

Cause with reality you got your 1310, your 1490, and the 1550. And the light is so clean it’s +20 dB hot. It’s true QAM.
(That's me saying "whatever".) I'm not going to try and have a rational argument about the nature of reality with someone who believes in fairy tales.
Have a wonderful day.

I think history has shown us that faith exists on the edge of understanding, as that understanding increases, faith moves out another valence to once again attempt to explain the unknown, or seemingly unknowable. It's this well documented aspect of the human condition that makes me think that there is a material explanation for everything. Religion pretty much just represent our impatience for true knowledge as a species and our fear of mortality.
- planet010
Just trying to see if your take of spirituality had any evidence. But apparently not?
That's all I'm getting at.
I doubt what most people believe is entirely grounded in something they can prove.
- Mimio0
Not to speak for BlueOne, but does having reverence for the natural world represent some illogical set of beliefs?
That's how I interpreted his explanation at least.
- flagellum0
What is absurd is the assumption that material processes can account for the origin of material. Not to mention the immaterial: consciousness, propositional information, etc...
- planet010
To me it came off as "a spiritual reality is just part of what is, the reality of matter, mental reality, etc."
- Mimio0
Maybe the material has just always existed, enveloping and recycling for eternity.

so Biblical Christianity = absurd mythology. Lovely. You really maintain that position? Sounds like you have an unwarranted prejudice against the supernatural.

(Aug 29 07, 08:42)claims of divne revealtion have lead to thousands of diffiernt conclusions.
by it's very nature codified science whittles itself to one.
you think iran's got some alternate muslim science?
the same engineering and physics will lead them to discover same thermonuclear fire we did.
what's absud is emotion blinds you to the reality that knowlege is only gained through science.
it is a candle in the dark.
faith and superstition are that darkness.
