polaroids

I am doing a poster for a film, and the client wants to include a scene or two in the poster, but my design does not need it. ( I actually had to talk them out of the floating head thing)
The workaround we decided upon was to have a few polaroids in the poster with the scenes on them.
My question is if most of you find the polaroid thing to be overdone.

do the polaroids have anything to do with the movie?
If they don't, then don't use them.

^agree
If it's a central theme (a la 'Memento') sure, it works. If it sells the film, then great. If not, it may be more confusing to the audience. That is actually worse than having some cliche design idea, or one's perception thereof.
