What happens back there? I've never been a client and I've never worked for a company that has this as apart of their site. Free porn? Coke room? Alien autopsy?

Why, if I were a client of yours, would I ever have to log in to your site?
like do you show works in progress? swap files? swap spit?

I've worked at places where there's been one.
But I have NEVER ever been in a sitaution with a project when a "client area" has been better than emailing them the stuff and dialing their number to talk.

honest answer: it allows the client to see working examples of their site at different stages of development. or, allows the client to log in to see comps and concepts of work rather than emailing them out.
other answer: to see pics of your mom.
:)
haha. jk.

I agree with Jox.
The place that I worked where we used the client login it was for showinf work in progress, if we got extra fancy we would put up a form there to keep all comments made in a central location instead of getting email from 10 different people...
for some things like showing working wireframes of sites it is easier than email, but that's about it. Only other thing it was useful for was really big files.I did some work for a company that kept everything there in the client login - the initial quote, contact, daily updated of work performed, layouts, mockups... everything.

basically what i figured with the comments and works in progress etc. a bunch of emails would get tired. Makes more sense with website design to me but alot of motion sites have them as well, i guess it's a discreet place for video previews. makes sense, just wanted to hear what i suspected.
