Any of you lucky fellas out there get married on the beach? My fiancee and I are looking high and low for somewhere in California (southern) for somewhere that does beach weddings that dont cost $5k for just the freaking ceremony only and require us to have 200 people! We don't have friends! Anyone have any cool little places they want to share?

The missus and I were going to get married on a beach in Fiskardo (Greece) until we found out that the beach (while very secluded) wouldn't be closed to the public so we didn't bother. Also, we figured nobody would want to see the bride sinking into the sand wearing heeled shoes!
Got married in a little Greek chapel instead. At least it had a roof, it was the heaviest rain I'd seen in years!

i was married at cuvier park in la jolla, also called "the wedding bowl." i would highly recommend it. We were married on the cliffs edge at sunset on January 6th, while 15 foot waves broke below us.

On top of Point Dume? I don't know about the availability, but that would be a sweet spot. There are not a ton of people there either.

Any other recommendation? I would like to have a couple to go to the future missus with. She kind of gave up on the beach wedding thing. She only found expensive places and we are poor :(. I really don't want a Utah wedding. F'real.

my cousin got married at http://www.daufuskieislandresort…
not cheap, but it was the best wedding i've been to. It was like a vacation with a wedding thrown in.Make sure you grab a bucket of sand from the beach you get married on. You can use the sand in a bowls and candle holders, and always be reminded of that special day. I surprised them with a similar set up at there house when they got back. Not expensive, but it meant so much to them.

a bit off the subject, but a buddy of mine just told me that he went to a wedding over the weekend that cost $75k... I almost passed out when he dropped that number! I think my wifey and I dropped a total of $3700 on our wedding. At first it seemed cheap, but afterwards I couldn't imagine having spent more. It really was all about making sure it was fun and hospitable for all that attended. Don't get it twisted, if I had deep pockets, I'm sure I would have spent more, but damn, $75k is nuts.
Grats and good luck!

I met my girlfriend on the beach, does that count?

yes. yes it does. hey F_18, I showed my ladyfriend and she says she is concerned about it being on a public beach? It looks pretty secluded to me. Like, public but sort of its own area? Were there any problems with people just walking by and stuff or was it just pretty much you guys?
Cheers

i have been to several $1mil + weddings. they are rediculous. i too do not see the value in this let alone a $75k wedding event..... even if it is multiple days.

that is ridiculous. i don't see the point. you could use that money in so many other worthy ways. we are trying to not have a registry and have people donate money to a charity we are picking out. hopefully that works out. thats part of the reason we are poor, haha.
