you won't find a better mix of people and culture anywhere else in the world
bcline
(Aug 8 07, 14:00)that's arguable (since I know of some culturally-mixed places in Canada), but NY is definitely in the top 3 ;)

New york is the epitome of extremes, very pleasant and respectful people juxtaposed with direspectful ignorant people. The very rich living next to and on top of very poor. Very hot summers, very cold winters. Etc etc.
To me this is the greatest place in the world. The people, the food, the culture. It's expensive, but the economy works itself out. But it does take a certain perspective to enjoy living here.

I want to visit every now and then, but I probably wouldn't live there.

(Aug 8 07, 14:15)that's the spirit. you can live on less than the 50-70k creative professionals seem to need to exist here. my recommendation: live in brooklyn.
as to the aforementioned crappy mass transit; yesterday there was a friggin' hurricane. don't think i can judge the whole system on such a day or complain too much considering.

here is a NYC TIP:
never walk on, over or next to a NYC MANHOLE COVERs.
-in the summers they explode!!
-in the winters they shock!!

hey guys, what are the best companies in NYC to work in?
your thoughts?
- e-pill0
its not what is considdered 'best' its that there is a lot of opportunity here that elsewhere you may not find, plus its the lure of nyc and the experience of it that makes it ever more tasty...there is a lot of choices here, and a lot of career paths that you can take. do it for the experience, and for your life growth.
