I'm exporting my indesign document as a PDF. Problem is the PDF looks way too saturated (colors/shadows) much too dark. Is there a setting i should be using to better represent the appearence I see in the actual indesign doc? much thanks!

default lo-res should look best.
Acrobat's color profiles still aren't very accurate when compared to Photoshop or even Illy.
Could be something wrong with your screen settings?

are you looking at it on a mac with glossy screen?
:)

just my mac g4 a la 2005. Don't believe the screen is especially glossy. I see distinct differences on the same screen between the indesign and the pdf.
(PDF prints out way too dark as well compared to printing out the Indesign.)

sounds to me like a problem w/ the original image(s).
Is your PDF in RGB or CMYK mode?

make sure your colour management has the pdf profile set to 'same as source' (or that's how it works in illy anyways)

i actually find color in acrobat to be most acurate.. ? if anything slightly less saturated than print results.
if its printing just as bad as it previews in Acrobat, most likely some bad color settings in your AI/PS files resulting in whack color/ ink% values.

thanks for the effort, but none of that helped . . . but curiously, even though all my placed images and color specs are set CMYK, when I broke down and tried saving my PDF with RGB Color in the advanced menu . . . the resulting PDF looks nice and subtle, just like my cmyk indesign. how weird is that????
