Organizing my girlfriend's ipod at the moment, it's a 30 gig ipod video.
In the new itunes, know how you can view your ipod and it shows that total capacity graph at the bottom?
Hers says:
19 GB Audio
596.9 MB Video
8.20 GB Other
39.7 MB Free SpaceWhat in the world is the "Other" category?
I've gone through songs and video and their capacity is correct. WTF is in "other" that is 8.20 gig? She has no photos on here at all.
Possible error? And don't anyone say it's porn. She keeps that on her Zune. ;)

Oh, and there are no TV Shows and Audiobooks on it at all.

every hd keeps a free space for using during operation, plus the os running it probably

That's def. not it Version6.
If I look at mine, which is a last gen. regular ipod, there is no other category and it's nearly full with music. I don't think the OS needs 8 some odd GB of space.
Could it possibly be for WMA files? I noticed some when I viewed her ipod as a drive.

plus ANY other info stored on there (ie. pics, programs, documents, etc.)

but the thing is, in itunes I can't even see what "other" consists of.
There are really no photos and other stored info. she doesn't use album covers either.

WMA files, pdfs, recipes, song lyrics, cliff's notes...
ie. (as i said before : ) anything.

and yeah, you won't be able to see that shit through itunes. you just have to view it as a drive. that will probably answer your questions

mount the iPod as a disk, not via iTunes, and have a look inside.

more info:
When I view the ipod as a drive through My Computer, in the Music folder there are artists in there, and songs, that are mp3 files, but they are not listed in itunes.
Could this maybe have something to do with it not properly removing songs when she's deleted them (combined with WMA files)?
Thanks for your help, this is damn confusing.

In Itunes:
Albums listed for Bloc Party:

Silent Alarm Remixed
Weekend In The CityViewing as a drive:
Albums Listed for Bloc Party:
only songs from Silent Alarm, but both mp3 and wma versions of the same song...

Sounds like someone has dragged songs onto the hard drive direct and not applied them to the music folder through itunes.

Save your playlists and reformat it. Should fix your problem.

Have you seen that little corner at the bottom that shows the album artwork? I believe that is the 'other' category.
Maybe not, but worth a try...
