I stayed at the hudson in january of this year, it was far and away the best hotel experience i have ever had, although the cheaper rooms are a bit on the small side.

I went a few months ago and stayed at the Rivington, booked through tablet hotels, Awesome Hotel, with great views.

epigraph .. i stayed at Hudson. Very nice hotel until you enter a room. Very small and uncomfortable for 260 $ a night. My best friend stayed at The Kitano and he was very happy.
