The more I look at it, the more I like the new one and the more I see how naive and lumpen the old logoform looks.
The new one fills out the space much more ably, has a greater feeling of forward momentum and, oddly (considering its cost), comes over as being a lot less contrived.

I have no idea how much it cost. The 400K number that I pulled out of thin air was the price Wolff Olins charged for the Olympics London 2012 logo, not to raise a rotten corpse or anything...

heh, I suspected that's what you were alluding to, Gramme :)
That TheReg article I linked to claimed it was AUS$100m (US$88m) - I guess that includes re-livery-ing* costs for the planes which I understand is quite expensive ($1m per plane?)

i was pointing out that 400k is not just for using the bezier curve tool in illustrator.

nice.

I like the curve the arm makes to the leg in the new logo. And it seems they did also because it's in all the mastheads. The old logo looks more like a kangaroo, but the new one is certainly recognizable as one. I like the placement of the new skippy better as well..

I like the new 'roo' with the old font.

the old font, as they also more or less stated does not fit or match the shape of future airplane architecture. All the new planes, especially that new Boeing, is all curvy. The strong pointy geometry of the previous font has no place in this day and time. I do know that most of you are purists longing back to the days of Brockmann, Crouwel, Doesburg and fuck knows who has an important place in your nostalgic dreams, but clearly these are other times. Just as the late modernism was so radically different to the free spirited character of Jugendstil for instance. Each design his own time.
Seriously, noone sees the irony in my nicname here.
That's how fanatically you people are hanging on to the past. As if the future is a rapist with his knife pointed at your throat. Fucking grow up and try to approach design from reality instead of nostalgia.ta ta,

Logo I don't mind - type is terrible.
