- harlequino0
Uh yeah. So my coolie and Capt. Todger just puckered up and shrunk at the idea of this stone thing. How do we NOT get that?

you can stop eating tin cans for lunch.

Drink lots of water. Looots of lemonade, the acids found in Lemonade help prevent these bitches - of course my dr didn't say it like that but hey...
I actually have a list of the 10 different drinks and food you should avoid in order to prevent this...I'll post it up when I get home but I can name the most important ones...avoid:Chocolates
Excess of Beer
Citric Fruits
Soda
Green Vegetables such as spinach, etc...That will give you an idea...
- OSFA0
Oh, and once you get them, you have a 50% chance of getting them again...
BUT, it can also be a hereditary problem. Check your family history...
- harlequino0
Phew, ok. I'm on the right track then. I am more of a coffee/vodka/scotch person myself anyhow.

isn't asparagus really good at "cleansing" the shite out before stones form??
your list has me down as getting one next... and I'm confused, lemonade is good but citric fruits are bad??

(Jul 23 07, 06:05)If you frequent a Dr, call him and describe the pain, he might advise you to either see him or go to the hospital, or simply show up and let them know, that way they give you pain killers and you won't know what hell must feel like...
Just don't wait until it is too late... I can't describe the pain...
- OSFA0
yup, it is weird like that... abother missconception is that cranberry juice helps... FALSE! Cranberry juice is great for infections but bad for stones...
Please don't quote me on this since tis is the info I've gathered from the ER, Dr and two specialists plus some online research...

my client on my last job had to go to hospital due to kidney stones and he said he was in agony yo!!.

"The prevalence of stone-forming disease rose from 3.8 percent in the late 1970s to 5.2 percent in the late 1980s and early 1990s. White Americans are more prone to develop kidney stones than African Americans. Stones occur more frequently in men. The prevalence of kidney stones rises dramatically as men enter their 40s and continues to rise into their 70s. For women, the prevalence of kidney stones peaks in their 50s. Once a person gets more than one stone, others are likely to develop."
"People prone to forming calcium oxalate stones may be asked by their doctor to cut back on certain foods if their urine contains an excess of oxalate:
* beets
* chocolate
* coffee
* cola
* nuts
* rhubarb
* spinach
* strawberries
* tea
* wheat branPeople should not give up or avoid eating these foods without talking to their doctor first. In most cases, these foods can be eaten in limited amounts."
