i typically design pieces on an hourly and rarely a flat rate basis when it is flat rate its because in doing a favor and i say ok i'll give you that logo design for 300 $ since i know them or what not i have a company thats wanting me to do various tshirt designs and charge them piece by piece i dont want to undercut myself but also i want the gig so i dont want to overrate it and they dont go with me whats a decent rate for a tshirt graphic design ?

I have charged between $300-500 per shirt, depending on the company size and work involved.

don't mix friends with business, at least for me... i've learned it the hard the way. and keep on charging an hourly rate not a flat fee, you will prob. feel better about the project in the end; don't forget contracts! I wouldn't go any lower than 50 / hr.

flate rate for experimentation, hourly to refine, other wise it's you, the rake, and the coals.
