i skipped reading the whole thread.
i liked the treatment of printed type in the papers of the Daily Prophet. I always loved how it was treated in the films.

that's interesting! when I see it again I will definitely pay attention to that.
I did notice a lot of type on the front page, but that's probably just the effect of going in and out of headlines (special effects or something).

'tis nice: i am now relistening to book 6. just in time for you-know-what next week!

Apparently employees of bookstores and wherever else they are selling the books have to sign non-disclosure forms since they've had the books for about a month now in boxes (since they need them earlier to send them out to all the customers on time). Of course, at least one copy of the book has been roaming the internet. There's probably more than one version out there right now, with one of them being fake (that one was has been available for a month or more now).
I'm not sure if I should come online for the weeks after it has been released, but I probably will come on...while avoiding certain sites.

there is a copy if the first 490 pages or so. it is 'torrented'. i guess the quality is low but one can zoom in to read the text. i plan on waiting.
i am currently at the place where D and H have used the pensive for the fourth time.
*stoked!

it looks like the design observer thought the type was interesting enough to write about too:

NY Times published an early review of Book 7. Apparently, they were able to buy the book in a regular shop somewhere. Rowling's camp is obviously pissed, but eh, who cares.

The worst thing is when a huge newspaper has the major spoiler for HP the day after a book comes out. This happened with the last book.
I have a feeling it will be inevitable that everyone finds out what is going on the last book, unless you read it within two days.
- jaylarson0
i'm going to work hard on not hearing/seeing/etc.
*fingers crossed

Got the last book just now.
I still can't believe someone photographed every single page of this book and posted it on torrent / download sites. Apparently the pictures have his hand in them too, changing each page, hahah.

Ya, and the images have the EXIF data intact. :o
My wife has been reading it every waking hour, short of a half a day at work this morning.

'Rowling angered at Potter book spoiler reviews'
Hmm... £280m worth of 'angered'.

To be honest, I could care less that she's that rich.
Possibly because I get pissed off when spoilers are put everywhere without a warning first (like how many newspapers seem to divulge everything from a book the day it's released). Obviously a spoiler isn't a spoiler anymore given enough time, like 2-3 weeks for this book is released, for example.
It's like whenever someone is extremely wealthy people can't care about their opinions or feelings anymore.
According to her: “I am staggered that some American newspapers have decided to publish purported spoilers in the form of reviews in complete disregard of the wishes of literally millions of readers, particularly children, who wanted to reach Harry’s final destination by themselves, in their own time."
There is some truth to this statement.
