"No!! Look! It's a giant killer terrorist!! There! Can't you see??"
"Where? Behind the badger?"
"No!! No!! It IS the badger!! He's got teeth like...he can jump this far...LOOK AT THE BONES!!!"

I love when people propose apathy as a solution. Do you really think any president could be this bad? How many reasons are there for impeachment now? The lies leading to the war, the propaganda inside those countries started by the Pentagon, the war crimes and torture, the warrantless searches, and just this week, the suppression of information from the Surgeon General's office. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few too.

The problem with the Democrats is most the other political machine - the Republicans. Since Bush won't listen to anyone in the world, the Senate needs 60 votes and they only have 50 Democrats. Lieberman counts as a Republican in most matters because he's such a dick. You get 6 more votes from Republicans and as soon as you get 4 more, which you will eventually, the war will be de-funded.

One more thing.
The only way this war ends is when the Congress stops paying for the war. That's exactly how Viet Nam ended but so few people ever want to remember that war, or Watergate for that matter. Can we do to Bush what we did to Nixon? For the love of God!

Why can't a political thread be of any decent level here? Why does it always seem only joe-average-like comments get posted here? with a lot of snickering and yeah-yeah-yeahs. typical like those people i know here who have never experienced the great things in life and talk with a small mind, probably in constant fear of having their own voice. Fear of losing any *artificial* social acceptance on a far too broad scale. So rather a small mind then. How many people on this board are left, since the early days, that really dare to speak their mind, even if it can cause great, great criticism? Is the life of a designer these days realy as empty as it seems? Are they really this low on the intellectual ladder? Don't they dare to speak their minds first, like artists, writers, poets do?

(Jul 12 07, 01:52)Crouwel my actual college degree was in Political Theory. Outside of an academic setting it is impossible to really discuss this shit in any detail. Discussing politics with the average (especially American) Joe is to try to explain a rainbow to people that only have the ability to see two colors. Not to say that people are dumb or politically unaware even, just that they don't have a contextual model to place alot of their concerns and interests in and you have a mass media that continues to dumb complex issues down and define the terminology and language the common culture uses to discuss these things.
Heck, I've come to the belief that the concepts of "left" and "right" are hopelessly outdated , and that these terms which where defined by who sat where in some dumb early French post-revolution congress have absolutely zero relevance to any political discussion today - yet we still insist on using (and in a deragoatory and inflammatory manner) "left" and "right".
I mean we have a sitting President from the "Right" party who has used the instrument of State to wage war based on a Enlightenment ideology (nation building? spreading democracy?) and expanded the powers of government in direct contention to the very ideals of the traditional American conservative Right ideology. The fact that he is still called "Right" and not a left-o facsist is because...um...because...he's rich maybe? I don't know...just trying to say it's impossible to have a meaningful political discussion with no context and hampered stilted terminology. Of course there might be those "out there" who find that useful. Just saying.

wow. thanks.
i always try to avoid the left/right debate as it is indeed useless. i have voted for both right and leftwing parties in the past, based on qualities like confidence, direction, power, intention etc.
not based on the age old notion of left/right. very french indeed.
