telling me about my account managerment

me too mrd.
ebay i get maybe 1 every other month or so.
chase bank sends me shit all the time about updating my account info... and i don't have an account there.
every time i go back home i make sure to tell my folks about shit like this. haha.

I get those sometimes as well. eBay and Paypal have detailed disclaimers and stuff about this. No one would be asking for account information through email.
The URL also looks suspicious.
I hope users actually read these guidelines, but I doubt it.
Nice extension, didn't know about that.

---------if you tell me which bank it is you bank with, your full, name, address and email, if you also include your account number and sort code then i can maybe make you feel a little less neglected dancer
:)
in general peoples, you should never click on a link from an email like that, if you suspect something is up and are maybe genuinely concerned by what they are pointing out then open a new browser and type in the paypal.com url yourself then login as normal. if there IS anythign wrong / outstanding about your site then paypal will flag it up when you login.

And that is the end of today's lesson.
Tomorrow is Chat rooms

I get a ton of them too. Hover over any links in the email and make sure they say ...ebay.com/.... or ...paypal.com/.... otherwise its a fake.
The important thing to do is forward the message to or so they can log the message and pursue the sender.

"The URL also looks suspicous"
The URL is a total giveaway..
have you all been on a desert island for the last 5 years?

I have been sending header info to eBay but does anyone know if the FBI will take this seriously? Anyone have an email to send headers to?

You could report it to the owner of the IP address the email is sent from, Time Warner Telecom.. They should be responsible for abuse by their users..

duh not email.. Time Warner owns the IP where the site is serving from (port 82 on someone's home computer?)...

I recently sent my Dad a warning about the current spate of PDF attachment & "You've got postcard from X" viruses/scams/whatever that were getting past a lot of virus checkers.
Made me feel like I'd nipped back to 1999.

Thanks ninjasavant, but an FBI address? Would they even do anything about it?
Oh crap...they are watching me type this. Sorry FBI guys.

Interesting to note my moms online store had some purchases made on it from a stolen credit card. She called the FBI and they said the Secret Service handles that sort of stuff.
The Secret Service guy was really polite to her on the phone, since he knew he could kill her instantaneously.

what are you trying to achieve exactly? You might be better suing Time Warner Telecom, or taking political action to get laws changed to make them take responsibility for actions by their customers, rather than trying to get the FBI to do something... depends what your goal is though...
If its to protect yourself, there's probably technical solutions...
