It's only because people here pay for fonts all the time (as designers), and the people who sell these fonts frequent NT on a regular basis (unlike music sharing, for the most part).
Otherwise most wouldn't mind.
I'm guessing.

I will say it's unreasonable to expect students to buy fonts. I think fonts should be free to students, or at least A LOT cheaper. After 4 years, they implode in a cloud of green dust.
I still can't afford to buy fonts very often, except for the lovely occasion when clients foot the bill.
If there was less piracy, I'd wager that the price of fonts would decrease dramatically.

Gramme I ten to agree. I do buy fonts but when the client says, er can I edit it myslef, and where's the font I have to stumble, falter and charge them for extra.... then I loose the client :)

build it into the initial cost. Unless you're being nickeled & dimed from the getgo, they won't even notice!

(Jul 11 07, 07:18)yes. you can usually talk to the foundry directly and they will (hopefully) grant you a limited use license for use while in school. Underware was very kind to me in that regard and gave me one of their families back in the day.
but seriously, buy it if you can.
