not the design of the machines, the design of the OS
Rand
(Jul 8 07, 07:27)I have no problems with using Windows. Maybe when I buy a mac I will change my mind, but if I have no problems with the OS, then I'm not going to complain about it after I switch to another machine. I'm guessing I will enjoy both.

many of the publications I prepare ads for don't even accept windows files

wouldn't it be smarter to bitch about the stranglehold that adobe has on the entire industry?

There's a difference between using something for its look, and using something for its look + usability + functionality, etc.
You can tell when someone owns something just for its look.
(this goes for any company, btw)

windows usability?

screw that.. the mac os is so ptronizing.. its so dumb and glossy and big.. like those preschoolers "my first alphabet" type of things..
to me the OS are like lego
Windows = normal lego ( plenty of pieces and cusomisable. Can get complicated and fall apart but still has more variety of pieces to connect to it
Mac = Lego Duplo (toddler lego, with big clunky pieceswith rounded edges. toddler firendly and patronizing
Unix = Lego technic.. totally for the enthusiast and fan of building hardware and software to make a dream system... bit too much for me

odel, thats bullshit.
the intuiive design of macos is what makes it so strong.
why do you think windows copies every move of apple?

it's a red state/blue state thing
- tank020
its actually a no state issue cause i don't use a nos to design in...
i use after effects or illustrator or cinema 4D...

i have been using windoze-based machines since 1997. i intentionally used it because it was cheaper and i got more for the money. now, the super liquid-cooled dell runs about the same as the super mac.
i think i may choose the mac this time. mostly becuz:
being able to run both operating systems, and gazillions of others is VERY tantalizing, especially for web design.
i love being able to press Option+- and get an en dash across most if not all programs
my hesitancy to switch is caused by a lack of cash and:
i hate not being able to not be able to right click/crtl click on nearly everything in osx
keyboard navigation is atrocious in osx (home, end crtl+shift+ right/left arrows to select text)
but these last two things are pretty small comparatively speaking.
i know how to hack windoze to get the most out of it. i hope there is a good amount of software when i do switch.

Conversations like these are the reason I believe 99.95% of all humans to be tards... It's a fucking machine... get over it. If you work better on a PC, use a fucking PC... Linux... Mac OS... Whatever. Just get the goddamn work done and make your money.... I feel like I've said this before on here. It's business/marketing. At the end of the day... none of these companies gives a flying fuck about you. Period.
