I am thinking of new ideas for design exchanges.
Would anyone be down for a postcard design exchange? Having different postcards with cool designs mailed to you house.
Any other ideas?

self portrait exchange?
rest assure no i am not gonna be part of it

only if there 100 people on the list
30 postcards is boring when i've received 20ish pieces from the two 30 entry NTPE i've been a part of.seem those not lacking time are lacking funds and vice versa.
but to reiterate, a 100 person postcard run would be fun

(Jul 3 07, 10:04)I'd be down for that.

the postcard idea is quite good. For a 6x4 1/4 card it's only 26 cents to mail (domestic). Plus you can get postcard size frames off-the-shelf for cheap.
i'm totally down.

It could be any media as long as it is mailable. Silkscreen, block print, photo, whatever.

NTshirt exchange?
- grunttt0
it would need to be a medium that can withstand the postal system. if i were to do a lino-print i would probably give it some sort of overspray. otherwise it would be destroyed along the way. but the wear-n-tear would actually be kinda cool as well.
i'm digging this concept.

I while back I thought of turning all of my 5x7 misprints into a postcard series.

So do you think a massive exchange or limited groups would be better?
- version30
to clarify.
i am interested in a postcard exchange. as gruntt said, easily framed and cheap to mail. not to mention inexpensive to produce. a 10 by 10 grid of different designers take of a 4"x6" canvases is more appealing than another stack of random items
the print exchanges turn into excuse fests. even i was extremely delayed on my 2nd sending. and only about a 66% turn out.
hortons idea is cool, but sizing would stifle that effort

I was think the same about sizing with the shirt idea.

(Jul 3 07, 10:24)not if participants were already making tees.. which i'm assuming quite a few here already do.
but then again, i def not inspired enough to facilitate this idea, so can't expect anyone else to :)

I think I'd be down for this - the print exchange was always a bit heavy and overwrought for my taste.

er.. postcards, that is.

I like the simplicity and lower mailing costs.
I also like the suggestion of them all being one size. Interesting to see different takes on designing the same amount of space.

how can I be down?

(Jul 3 07, 10:15)i'd only sign-up if it was mandatory hand-made. sorry but definitely don't care for a collection of desktop ink jet postcards.
- version30
i think the first and foremost issue pending will be the lack of participants.
are there even 100 people posting regularly who you feel would join?
take qruise for example, the loudmouth he is posts, but i highly doubt would participate, similar to all the others hiding behind their aliases.

let's get rusty involved, he can take pics of his brazilian wife!

i had higher aspirations than a desktop printer. If you've been in a print exchange, I'm sure you've already received home printed goods. I have. But I do understand your concern. though it sounds like you believe a good photo can only be shot on a high end camera. I've always been a fan of the what more than the how myself.
