i'm no designer, but the spaces between the d and e and e and k don't feel right, kern.
not really my thing, but it's oke, you might wanna check how it works out when you print it smaller

oh god it's horrible. Please just stick with your current logo.

wow

- the conncection lines are 2 thin,
this will cause problems in print or even when u just use it smalller.
- the negative spaces of the letters are chaotic and disturbing.
- the serifs need to be refined.aka
back to the drawing board.
if i was u i would start from a bauer bodoni italic and adjust it to make it more personel.

(Jul 2 07, 03:39)can't you see?

although the logo looks ok (as in around 3 out of 10) without more background information there is not much that can be said.
Provide some background, perspective and justification for the logo. What type of project is it for?
Is it for yourself or for a client? etc.
- dkmb0
the logo is for myself, an identity for myself
- digilee0
but what do you do?
designer/ writer/ dressmaker/ motion graphics ...
- dkmb0
designer, my old stuff can be seen here: http://www.derekboateng.com/indeā¦

I find it difficult to believe that your logo and the other work is from the same person.

(Jul 2 07, 04:32)agreed. some solid work there, on the old site, but the new logo looks like a student's work.
- dkmb0
well whether you believe or not it is all my work, thanks, i think
- emecks0
that probably sounded harsh.
what I meant was that the older stuff all looks pretty good, the logo doesn't.
I'm no designer, but your logo looks like a rough draft, in particular the serifs and (I don't know the correct name for this bit) the bit in the middle of the "k" and "r" just to the right of the ascender on the k for example...
- dkmb0
i know, believe it not its a modified font, i didnt draw it all from scratch, i think i should just start again...

i agree with a few comments above and was going to type the same.
your history of work shows a better standard of identity than this new one.
do you design new identities for yourself all the time?
a good logo should be something that wont be "in or out of fashion".
and if it does need to change over the years then it should be able to evolve rather than completely change.i say revisit one of your earlier ones, i like the 3D 'part of a D'. that would look nice with a good font used with it
- dkmb0
cheers for the advice, i think i might revisit the 'd'

it could use some tweaking, I guess, but I like it
