I don't have a problem with diversity and agree with dobs about the benefits that come from attending racially diverse schools (although, admittedly, I am whitewashed compared to the rest of my family).
To be honest though, most of the problems that affected the students at my school were the result of gangs and groups from the ghetto student population growing. Most of them were from other parts of the city too, but attended our school. It's not completely their fault, of course.
Not all the students from the ghetto were that way, clearly, but most of them did not make an effort to really get along with the rest of the school.
High school was shit anyway.

i agree that its important to have exposure to all classes and all races. i thank my parents for living in the ghetto and allowing me to different types of people. i believe i now have a more open mind because of it.

bussing caused problems at my schools, plain and simple.
if you deny that bussing in children from a high crime rate area to a low crime rate area doesn't have a negative influence, i believe you to be delusional on this topic

we aren't saying that people of cultural differences are bad.
But compare GPAs, teacher stats, test scores of a ghetto school to that of a nicer school. There is a difference.

and by the way, there were lots of white students living in the ghetto area, although most were brown and/or Muslim. There were even Russians who beat up Chinese kids regularly.
(just being honest, not saying that's how it is everywhere else).
You really can't pinpoint it on one race.

for the 6th grade i was bussed to a school where i was a tiny minority of about 12 white students. i was hit twice, once in front of a teacher who seemed to find it amusing, and i had my umbrella stolen 3 times
