australia is a great place... for holidaying.

its small, you will want to live in sydney or melbourne - where most of the jobs are. sydney has much better weather and a more glamorous city then melbourne, but costs are higher - rent, food, stuff to do etc. but you will also be paid slightly higher too

I live and work in Perth and am originally from uk. Weather and beaches are awsome here but the job scene is a bit quiet. I prefer Melbourne to Sydney as Melbourne is a little bit more hippy and and the arts scene is the huge. Sydney is still awsome I go there often.
I say do it!

(Jun 22 07, 00:45)Very true. livedthere had a business in Sydney. There's a wierd self-conciousness...mix between, ooh you did this stuff in England (London) and oh you did this stuff in England (London) so why are you over here. Scene is very outward looking - technically slick but kind of devoid of originality, almost needs to have seen stuff done elsewhere first...probably because of the size of the market. I say do it but depends what you want...

big questions is can you actually do it? stay there i mean.
you have family? graphic design and being english doesn't earn you enough points to get a work visa sadly.
melbourne is the place to be, followed by broome.

yeah go to melbourne if you want london-ish weather - cold and wet most of the year ;P

come to melbourne if you don't want to miss london so much - and, the art/design scene here is pretty huge. despite the fact that SP is hosted in sydney, and I've been to there myself, it's a close call between sydney and melbourne!
but, i'd say - you should come down to here first, and if you don't think it runs right in your category, then head over to sydney and try it out there. afterall it is just an hour and half flight from here! ha.

shut the door on the way out.
