QOTSA...
...
you... uh
complete me.

I hear it's better than the last one but not as good as songs for the deaf. worth a listen then i take it?
- TheBlueOne0
I tried and tried to get into it, I just can't. Read some crazy ass review about it adding "a whole new technical and sonic guitar tapestry to rock" and all I heard was crappy guitar sounds probably looped through pro tools.
- PrayStation0
well...
SFTD - has always been my all time fav...
Lullabies - some good tracks but not a great album...
After what I've been digesting... I think Era might be better the SFTD - from start to finish it's fucking heaven man... I amazed these guys are bigger than they are.
maybe the fact they're not is a good thing.
- PrayStation0
really Blue ?
- TheBlueOne0
Maybe it's me. I just don't get it, cause I really want to like them, and they just leave me cold (the same way Mastodon does, and everyone raves about them too...)
And I loved Kyuss, big fan of the Homme dude in general, but QOTSA, and especially this new one...I don't know man. Doesn't rock my socks..
- j_az_X0
i was just about to ask how you felt about kyuss?
thats funny. im checking out the previews on itunes now.
so far so good.
- TheBlueOne0
I guess I'll just have to listen to it again...I had it cranked in the old car stereo this morning for the old AM commute...maybe it just wasn't jiving with the overall NYC traffic mood...
- j_az_X0
I think the only lacking in this one is the really superb drumming of dave grohl.
im not a foo fighters fan but that guy is a sick drummer.
- PrayStation0
hmmm.. I think Kyuss is a bit Over-produced and sludge-ish.
I actually really dig - what Homme is doing with the tones on ERA - it feels very departed from what everybody else is/has done.
- PrayStation0
you should check out Homme's drumming on Eagles of Death metal... but it's super kitschy - and you have to certain love taste in your mouth to super sink into Death by Sexy.
- j_az_X0
i love the Eagles of Death Metal stuff...i liked Kyuss when I first heard them and thought Queens was the perfect step forward.
But I really did enjoy the wonkiness of Death by Sexy...

just based on a first listen im still counting SFTD as the tops, but i havent had time yo live with this new album just yet. how long have you rocking to it?
- PrayStation0
other stuff rocking me is...
the Melvins - a Senile Animal
Death from Above 1979 - even though they are no more.
Fantomas - Suspended Animation, might be the best Josh davis theme music ever created.
also this was a great find :
Raymond Scott - Reckless Nights & Turkish Twilights - he's the guy that did all of the Looney Toon's cartoon compositions.oh and Umbrella by Rihanna... yeah... just fucking with you... just checking to see if people actually read all they way through.

J
I just snagged it June 12 - from itunes.

Death from Above 1979 - Sexy Results may just be one of my favorite songs and things to say ever.
Fantomas are always great and I love their Godfather cover they did.
And is it the Umbrella remix you are digging? The one with Jay-Z?
; )
