Yo, I'm headed to Halifax tomorrow for Halifax Pop Explosion. Any must-see things to do? Or must-eat restaurants? Good places to drink?
I'm mostly interested in good eats.

I can recommend stuff to do in Halifax, West Yorkshire as I grew up near there.... Actually I lied, I can't recommend anything there either - its a shit town (one of the many reasons I left)

Lived in Hfx for three years; the Split Crow in Granville St on a Friday or Saturday night is always good fun, especially if there's a live show. Otherwise, heading out toward Quinpool Rd can turn up some interesting places to eat (when I was living in the area, there was an Ethopian restaurant that had just opened up).
The Coast is your friend, though, like sleepy mentioned.
- Note: I haven't been there since 2006, so things might have changed)Continuity

Also, it used to be (though I don't know if it's like that now) that the Marquee Club in Gottingen St was where most of the big HPE shows happened. It was basically the hipster club of the day (and also the goth/industrial club of the day on Sunday nights), but it closed down for a bit when I was still there, so it might not even be open anymore. Worth looking into though.

Ya I think the Marquee is open again under a new name. Hell is still open in the basement I think. Also, not sure if you are a record kinda guy usrper, but if you are http://www.obsoleterecords.ca/ in the North End is pretty sweet.

Oh, and the Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings is very good. Local food, goods, etc.

Did a bachelor party in Halifax few months back was fun. Mostly a blur though lot of pubs.
Only negative thing to happen was a couple of the guys Jumped on one of the evenings for no apparent reason. Actually 2 negative things. Went fishing on a small boat spent 4 hours throwing up over the side.

If you have a car, you can go to lunenburg, nice little town, this guy (http://www.hellodaylight.ca/) runs a nice little shop there (http://dotsandloops.ca/) and they sell great stuff and great prints.

Place called the Bluenose II does a pretty awesome breakfast.
- Yup. This is correct. The lowerdeck I disagreed with but this, yes.sleepyfatso

Cool. I'll be pretty tied up with the festival, but hopefully I can see more than music.

Find out stuff about the Halifax Explosion.
I went there in 2000, met some cool, chilled, clued up people, living in a nice-looking little town in a great location, in a unspoiled, interesting corner of the world. I liked it. Hung out with a cool cute girl for a bit (nothing happened, but, you know.). Ate pizza, watched some break-dancing. Then got a mammoth bus ride to Montreal through miles and miles of backwoods nothing - it blew my mind being so far from anything. Fredericton, Riv-Du-Loupe, then lovely Montreal. Deax, s'il vous plait. Ca coute combien ? Fine old city.
